I run the rugged ridge crossover steering. I have done so for the past year and a half or so, it was cheap, and fairly HD. The tie rod has taken a brutal punishing of rocks, and it has really held up well, but now I'm beginning to realize just how sloppy my steering is, and it's becoming a bit dangerous on the road. I know that many times when you change you're drag link angle, you must also change you're track bar to match the angle of your drag link.

What I really wanna do is minimize cost, and maximize drive-ability. What is out there on the market, or what really needs to be done for the xj steering? because I will do it myself if need be.

I am not 100% sure what can be done to fix your sloppy steering except have someone move the steering wheel back and forth while you watch all the steering components, check everything to see if anything is loose, I had to replace my steering gear box earlier this year because mine was so bad

I know my box has a few clunks to it, but 90% of the slop can be traced to the design of the rugged ridge crossover kit. The drag link attaches to the tierod on the side rather than the top. The rod ends have to move to a locked position on both sides before the jeep actually turns. It's a horrible design, and it's hard on the rod ends.
